Project Snapshot
Transport for NSW is building the next stage of the South Batemans Bay Link Road which will connect the Eurobodalla Shire Council upgrade of Glenella Road with the Princes Highway.
The project includes a new roundabout on the Princes Highway and a one kilometre upgrade of Glenella Road between the Princes Highway and Heron Road. This project aims to take pressure off Beach Road, relieve congestion in the Batemans Bay CBD, and support future growth in the area.
The challenges
With major work about to begin, the contractor needed to establish the worksite and set up temporary traffic changes, dropping the Prices Highway down to one lane in each direction whilst the new roundabout is being built.
Looking for a fast, easy and cost-effective solution, the contractor approached Orange Hire to deliver over 1000m of concrete barriers across 3 stages of the project. The barriers would ensure both motorists and workers were kept safe during the construction phase, deflecting out of control vehicles in the event of an accident.
Orange Hire’s Solution
The team at Orange Hire Central West was able to assist with the Deltabloc concrete jersey barriers – a MASH TL-3 rated barrier that is suitable for signposted traffic speeds of up to 100km/hr in NSW.
Plus, Orange Hire not only delivered all these barriers with our fleet of drivers, but we also looked after the installation in a very cost-effective way.
Using one of our Kobelco SK235 24T excavators and a Kenco barrier grab attachment, Orange Hire positioned the concrete barriers in place neatly and efficiently, allowing the contractor to keep their team focussed on other parts of the project.
