Fortawall Fencing at Brisbane Airport

Challenges

Construction projects at airports provide numerous logistical and safety challenges due to flight arrivals, departures and continuous operations.

With Downer Infrastructure doing airside resurfacing work at Brisbane Airport, it needed a strong, versatile and secure temporary fencing solution to separate operational areas from construction activity and ensure it met compliance standards.

Solutions

United Rentals worked with Downer at Brisbane Airport to develop, deliver and install Fortawall temporary fencing to create a secure perimeter in key areas of the construction site.

With Fortawall engineered to withstand winds of up to 165km/h, it was critical for meeting airport security needs in an exposed location prone to extreme weather.

Fortawall’s combination of strength and stability, safety features, high wind resistance, and rapid installation made it an ideal solution for a busy, high security site such as Brisbane Airport.

Benefits

Strong, secure, safe

With wind resistance up to 165km/h the system helped improve safety and security on site as well as controlling access to operational zones during construction.

Efficiency

With fewer parts and light-weight components, installation time was reduced by 70% compared to traditional temporary fencing resulting in a quick, safe and compliant fencing solution.

Compliant

United Rentals completed all Brisbane Airport induction requirements on installation day. Additionally, engineering documentation was supplied to the customer prior to installation to upload to their system.
