New‌ ‌kid‌ ‌on‌ ‌the‌ ‌block:‌ ‌why‌ ‌Sany‌ ‌is‌ ‌geared‌ ‌up‌ ‌to‌ ‌flatten‌ ‌the‌ ‌competition‌

If you aren’t familiar with Sany, then get ready to find out how China’s largest engineering machinery manufacturer is taking on the compaction market in Australia.

Who is Sany Heavy Industries?

Sany is an established manufacturer of heavy equipment, headquartered in China with a multi-billion dollar export market supplying 150 countries via its 25 global manufacturing plants.

Focussed initially on manufacturing concrete trucks in the ’80s, the company soon diversified into a range of different construction equipment including excavators, cranes, mining conveyors, dump trucks and rollers.

Sany equipment has been available in Australia through the company’s Asia-Pacific division for the last decade, quietly filtering into worksites and construction machinery fleets across the country.

The company’s low profile approach is paying dividends, with the Asia-Pacific division one of the fastest growing sectors in the company’s global portfolio.

After finding its feet on our local shores, Sany is now poised for a stronger push into the Australian market as its machines continue to prove their worth on Aussie job sites.

Why Sany’s rollers outcompete the rest

Some time ago, Roads & Infrastructure Magazine reported in an interview with Sany representatives that the company was taking a gentle approach to the market, building trust and ensuring the ‘proof was in the pudding’ when it came to equipment performance.

“From an image and branding point of view, it takes time for the customer to gain confidence in a brand. We have an excellent product, but we need to ensure it meets with local certifications and is compliant with regulations,” reports the article.

Sany Deputy Director of International Sales & Marketing, Nitin Khanna, notes that this patient and deliberate strategy is paying dividends, as more and more operators find out for themselves how well the Sany rollers perform in the field.

“Over the past decade, Sany product has been well received by the Australian market. When you talk about the road, crane, construction and concrete sectors, there is no doubt that customers have full confidence in our equipment and brand,” Mr Khanna says in the article.

The company is also up to speed with global and local regulatory requirements, with the inclusion of full-spec safety compliance suitable for our biggest infrastructure contractors.

Mr Khanna adds that to date, the feedback has been glowing, and its rollers, excavators and other equipment are on par with the industry’s biggest brands.

“Although Australian regulations are not enforcing Tier 4 compliance, certain Sany equipment models are manufactured with Tier 4 engines and we see this as a major competitive advantage. Our excavator population is not big in Australia as we have curtailed our activity, but customer and dealer feedback is excellent.”

“Compared to other mainstream and international brands, Sany product more than compares in terms of performance and value.”
