What are compaction wheels used for?
Compaction wheels are designed to be used in trenches, retaining wall backfill applications and batter walls. When fitted to an excavator, the compaction wheel thoroughly penetrates the trench fill with its padfoot style protrusions, which ultimately achieves compaction from the bottom up by mixing and displacing soil to remove voids. The static weight of the excavator’s arm pushing down on the wheel adds to its compaction capability.
These tough compaction wheel attachments suit excavators up to 35 tonne, and are made from a rugged steel drum and wear blocks for long-term performance in testing conditions.
